Why Some Longmont, CO Parents Choose Not to Show Their Childrens Faces On Social Media (& Why I, As An In-Home Newborn Photographer, Support That!)

Have you been thinking about having in-home newborn or family photos done and want to be able to share your amazing images but have made the choice not to show your children’s faces on social media?

I hear you, I see you and I support you!

Longmont Parents Don't Show Baby's Face -- Playing On Bed With Baby Laying Next to Mom and Dad

As a Longmont In-Home Newborn and Family photographer who has three kiddos myself, I understand how personal this decision can be and how hard it can be to be accepted in a society which is built on sharing all the parts of your life. Sometimes you just don’t want to do that… and thats totally okay!

There are so many reasons why you might want to keep your kiddos off of socials… these reasons range anywhere from privacy reasons, personal reasons or even cultural beliefs!

I’m going to be sharing how I respect your choice and how I make sure to provide you with images that you feel comfortable sharing!

If you decide to share your childs face/s online, you’re completely valid in that choice too! I want to make sure to note that there is no shame in any decision we make for our kids or our family as it’s not a one size fits all answer!

The Art of Capturing a Baby Without Showing Their Face:

   – Creative Angles and Posing!

While I make sure to prioritize getting shots with baby’s face for your personal use, if you wish to keep baby’s face off of social media or online, I will play around with posing and angles to get some images that focus on little moments without baby’s face! Things like the little details, hands, feet, half of baby’s face, things like that.

   – I make sure to emphasize connection!

All of my sessions focus on the connection and authentic love I see while i’m with my clients! I make sure to document this in a variety of ways so that way theres diversity within each gallery.

   – Using silhouettes

Sometimes the silhouettes of baby can hide enough of baby’s face for parents to feel comfortable enough to share.

   – I make sure to get some life-inspired shots where focus isn’t on baby alone!

I incorporate images where baby’s face is partially blurred which allows the focus to be on natural moments, such as family walks, feeding, or snuggling.

While showing baby’s face can enhance the emotion within a photo, I want to reiterate that this decision is deeply personal! While this post is focused on respecting your privacy and making decisions that you feel might be best for your family, there can be joy and memories that come with showcasing milestones, such as a baby’s first smile or laugh, if you decide to share.

I want to say it again, this is not a one size fits all decision, which is why I still share images of children’s faces on my website and social posts! Some families don’t care and some do, and both are 100% honored in my business! I make sure to ask your preference during our booking process so that way we can communicate expectations beforehand. Sometimes families don’t know yet which way they’d like to go and they choose to decide after seeing their images. I’m happy to meet you where you’re at and help support you in any way I can!

I want to say thank you to all of my past clients, current clients and future clients for trusting me to document your lives! I support your decision, whichever stance you take!

If you’ve been interested in booking a session with me, I make sure to personalize every session to meet each of my clients where they’re at! I’d love to chat about what you envision your session to look like and how I can create lasting images that you’ll cherish for a lifetime! You can find me on IG below!
